The National Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (NAPM) which was established in 1977, is the oldest or longest standing Association for the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry.
THE NAPM is a trade association focused on the supply of generic medicines taking into account the environmental needs of the country and its members.
By increasing the supply of generics and promoting the market as a whole, the NAPM will also assist the government in its policy of making medicines more affordable and more accessible to all South Africans.
The NAPM's members are manufacturers and suppliers of drugs, mainly generics in South Africa. They are

It was pioneered by SA Druggists but under-went major restructuring during the 1980s with the development of a new constitution and a full-time executive director.
In 2003 its offices in Melrose were revamped and further transformation took place allowing the organisation to become more proactive, enabling it to offer substantially greater benefits to its members and developing the pharmaceutical industry as a national asset.
Offices have moved from Pretoria to Midrand in order to ensure closer contact with its members.
